"The winds of change are blowing.

District 1 can no longer support leaders who have allowed Big Island Dairy to transform Ookala’s gulches and coastal waters into dead zones.
This is not pono.
We need to get serious about what kind of world we leave to our keiki and future generations.
We need to keep the country, country.
We need to keep the country, country.
If elected, I will write legislation that moves us toward becoming a thriving, non-toxic economy, to reflect our Community Development Plan.

I will work hard to  bring numerous benefits to District 1 and restore prosperity and health to our community.

Further, I will never cast a disloyal vote, such as the one last year that forfeited Big Island’s share of the T.A.T. tax, in order to pay for the Honolulu Rail.

Our family came to Hamakua in 2012 from Kauai, where we had lived for 20 years prior. District 1 reminds me of Kauai’s charm in the days before Hurricane ‘Iniki.

Today, Kauai is crowded, unrecognizeable, and unaffordable. That did not have to happen.  I will work hard to prevent this from happening to Hamakua. I am committed to protecting the rich cultural  heritage and natural resources,  while nurturing an economy that empowers people. " -- Koohan
